Sailwave Integration

SailTrak Race Control uses Sailwave blw files to retrieve competitor information and to store race results. The Sailwave files available to the app are defined in an EventList sheets file.

EventList

The EventList sheets file contains the list of series Sailwave files available to Race Control and it is located under the ‘Club folder’. To change the list of Sailwave files, edit the EventList file and add or remove rows as appropriate. Enter the event description in the first column and the full Sailwave file name in the second column.

Sailwave series file

Race Control and Sailwave both access the same series blw file via your Club Google drive. It is important that a series file is not open in Race Control and Sailwave at the same time.

Pre race: before launching Race Control to run a race, check that race Sailwave file is closed on your club computer.

Post race: after a race, before opening the Sailwave file, close Race Control and check the time stamp on the file matches the last time results were posted from Race Control. Open the Sailwave file and perform a score series, then save and publish as normal.

New Competitors: Race Control creates competitors by reassigning pre-existing Sailwave competitor records that are populated with the sail number “Unassigned”. Each time a competitor is created in Race Control an “Unassigned” record is consumed in the Sailwave file. The Sailwave file is updated with any newly created competitors when race results are posted. When new competitors have been created by Race Control, post race in Sailwave, unassign and reassign the Class to set the class PYN. This needs to be done even when the Class field was populated in Race Control.

To ensure Race Control has the capacity to create new competitors, maintain a pool of between 20 and 50 “Unassigned” competitor entries in each series Sailwave file.

If you edit a competitor in Sailwave between races, remove and re-add the competitor in Race Control Competitors screen to ensure the app has the current competitor information.
